A backyard outside Boston, laid out by a landscape architect, with the sauna set alongside a plunge pool and a cold plunge. Heat, cold, and open air within a few steps of each other. That's the whole sequence, and the yard was built so you never have to break it.
The Iki Pillar 9 sits inside the bench itself rather than off to one side. Nothing to walk around, nothing to keep clear of — the column is part of where you sit, and the heat arrives at the height you're already at. The upper bench runs 82 inches each way, long enough on both legs to lie down full length and enough for a group when there is one.
Thermally modified wood outside, thermo-aspen throughout the interior, and a 42-inch covered porch that keeps the doorway usable in weather. Ventilation is gravity-fed — a passive convection loop drawing fresh air past the stones and exhausting low on the far wall. No fan, nothing to fail, and the room breathes on its own.
